The Issue

Problem - Every week in Swineshead our beautiful birds that live at Maccie’s pit are being killed, hit and left for dead and their suffering needs to stop. Our residents are even fearful for their children due to a lack of respect for road signage and careless driving.

Evidence - Multiple complaints, dead geese reports, goslings knocked over and resident implementing safety measure for their family.  According to the Department for Transport, areas with adequate speed calming measures see a significant reduction in accidents, injuries, and fatalities, affirming the positive impact these initiatives can have on community safety.

Possible solution - We propose as a village, implementing effective traffic calming solutions on High Green. This could be speed bumps, clearer signage, more signage, speed monitoring signs and increased monitoring by traffic officers.

What can we do? - We can raise awareness, reduce our speed but that doesn’t fix the wider community who disregard these. Let's urge our local council to look into the safety of Swineshead residents and wildlife particular along High Green. We need a comprehensive plan to reduce speeding.  Please join us in finding this.

Sign this petition to demand action before more harm comes to our wildlife, or worse our children.
