Dear Friends,
Thank you to everyone who signed the petition to raise awareness (and prevent even more) of the invasive seismic blasting in the Irish Sea to ‘test the geology’ (known to be unsuitable) for a deep nuclear dump under the Lake District’s west coast. The investigations are set to continue with deep invasive boreholes next, costing £billions of public money. This is all being done off the back of less than a handful of councillors voting on behalf of Cumbria (and our neighbours) to “partner” with the developer of the biggest development ever in the UK, a geological disposal facility for high level, heat generating nuclear wastes.
There has been no full debate or full vote by Cumberland Council - people can help by signing the petition here https://www.change.org/p/urgent-insist-cumberland-council-have-full-vote-on-nuclear-dump-plan
There is more information on the dangerous push for a 50km square, 1000m deep mine in which to dump very hot nuclear wastes under the Irish Sea on Radiation Free Lakeland’s substack. The stitch up is in full throttle.
Tomorrow is too late
All best wishes
Marianne
