Save the West LA Courthouse public space and pedestrianize Bundy Triangle

The Issue

The West Los Angeles Civic Center is slated for redevelopment into much-needed affordable housing, but its public spaces are at risk of privatization. The architectural and cultural history of the pedestrian plaza serves as an important public space for the farmers market, skateboarders, and pedestrians.

Less than a mile west down Santa Monica Boulevard, Bundy Triangle is a fenced off triangle park that has been activated by the Bundy Triangle Collective during their pop-up series. The Collective invites activists, residents, and scholars to reimagine public spaces through activation and pedestrianization.

Please sign this petition if you'd like to save both public spaces as community hubs for the farmers market, pop-ups, skateboarding, and other people-friendly activities. We will be working closely with the local councilmember, city planners, developers, and residents to organize additional pop-ups, attend public hearings and neighborhood meetings, participate in design charrettes and visioning workshops, and save/transform both spaces.
