We're well on our way to saving the Washington Park and Zoo Railway with over 10,000 signatures of support! With so much support, we have a serious chance of succeeding but we have to keep the pressure on and grow our network of support.
Recently we learned the the Washington Park Master Plan never once over the years included fixing the train route the the International Test Rose Garden as an option on their surveys to the public. It was apparently deemed, "not a viable option" because Metro the regional government that owns the rail line, has not offered to pay for the repairs.
The City of Portland owns the land but Metro owns the rail line itself and the land on which the rail line sits is granted as a perpetual lease from the City of Portland to Metro.
Who gets to flip the bill?
To get things done, Dana Carstensen has offered to create a non-profit and fundraise the money needed and more. If it's to be successful though, the network of support needs to grow.
So even though you've alright signed this petition and shared it on your Facebook, please share it again! By doing so, those who didn't see it before, may see it this time, sign it, and share it. Such a simple action as sharing it again makes a big difference.

City of Portland Railroad Bosses help boost the project along with an estimated $2,000 worth of donated labor. Along with these Railroad Bosses who temporarily gave up their office jobs to be "gandy dancers", were among around 150 people who tamped ballasts along the Zoo Rail line.
