With over 15,000 supporters KOIN News 6 took note of our cause! We're shaking things up and getting the word out!
Updates: The City of Portland keeps tells us and the public that their Master Plan includes an option to keep the train with a multi-use path to be constructed adjacent to the track. What they don't actively tell the public is that the responsibility of the funding the repairs is being fully put on Metro and Metro has refused to budget for repairs, refused requests from their Oregon Zoo employees to be allowed to fundraise while selling zoo tickets, and refused outside offers from those willing to fundraise all the money needed for repairs. It's our belief that they do not want to repair the full route to avoid labor costs associated with operation.
The only option now is to create a non-profit so that the community can fundraise for the repairs and do the work that our governments reuse to do even though thousands have demanded it.
We've created an Oregon Nonprofit Corporation and we're now working with the IRS to get our 501c(3) status so that so that when we start a major fundraising campaign donations are tax deductible. Stay tuned for future updates.
Thanks so much for your current and future support!
