We are writing to provide you with an urgent update on the Up & Under Pub and Grill parklet issue. Unfortunately, the response from the City of Richmond has been disheartening, as they have shown no willingness to work with us and have disregarded our suggestions for a positive resolution.
Despite our efforts to engage in constructive dialogue and find a mutually beneficial solution, the City has chosen to shut us down completely. They have refused to grant an extension of the encroachment permit and renew the parklet permit, and they are proceeding with their demand for the immediate removal of the parklet.
It is deeply disappointing that the City has not demonstrated a willingness to consider the value the parklet brings to our community and the efforts we have made to address any concerns. They have not taken into account the overwhelming support we have received from the community through the petition and our continuous efforts to engage in meaningful discussions.
At this time, we are exploring all possible options to challenge the City's decision and fight for the preservation of the parklet. We believe in the importance of community spaces and the positive impact they have on our neighborhood. We will not give up without exhausting all avenues to ensure a fair and just resolution.
We will keep you updated on any further developments and actions that may be taken. In the meantime, we urge you to stay engaged and continue to show your support for the parklet. Your presence and involvement are crucial in amplifying our message and advocating for a positive outcome. Please feel free to reach out to any of the following from the City to air out your support for the parklet and/or your thoughts on the matter.
