We, a group of parents with children attending the University of Bradford Nursery, are urgently calling on the University of Bradford to reconsider its decision to close the on-campus nursery- a decision that has profound implications not just for the university community but also for the wider local community.

Why is this important?

The University of Bradford has announced plans to close its on-campus nursery as part of cost-cutting measures. This facility is crucial for the early childhood education of many children and supports the academic and professional lives of university students and staff. Currently, the nursery serves children of 34% student parents and 16% staff parents, with the remaining 50% being from the local community.

The closure of the nursery will force numerous families to find alternative childcare solutions, which are often less affordable and convenient, posing significant challenges to the work-life balance of parents and potentially disrupting their careers or studies.
