The Issue

As a resident of Park Road in Sutton Coldfield, I’m deeply concerned that the Sutton Gateway proposals would mean losing seven mature trees at the junctions with Clifton Road, Garrard Gardens and Tudor Hill.

These trees are part of what makes our neighbourhood green and leafy. They bring blossom, shade and shelter for wildlife, and make the walk towards Sutton Park more welcoming.

The scheme aims to create a “greener gateway” to Sutton Park. Yet the proposed junction changes and cycle route would remove the very trees that already make this route green. How does that make sense? You can see the full plans for Park Road here: https://tinyurl.com/save-our-trees

Once these mature trees are gone, new planting will take years to replace the greenery we enjoy today.

We are asking Birmingham City Council to reconsider these junction designs and explore alternatives that improve walking and cycling while retaining our established trees.
