Save the Trees on Hennepin Avenue

Save the Trees on Hennepin Avenue
Why this petition matters
The Hennepin Avenue Redevelopment Plan developed by the Minneapolis Department of Public Works is in the final design phase. Under consideration is a proposed elimination of every tree on Hennepin Avenue between Douglas Avenue and Lake Street — that's 191 trees on 12 blocks that encompass three neighborhoods, a vital small business corridor, 17,000 residents and countless visitors.
The deliberate and needless destruction of these trees will have an irrevocable impact on both the environment and neighborhood quality of life. Mature trees capture carbon, reduce air pollution, consume stormwater and provide shade that neutralizes the urban heat island effect. They also beautify our streets and neighborhoods.
If you support the preservation of our city's urban tree canopy, make your voice heard by signing this petition to Save the Trees on Hennepin Avenue. Your support and signature can make a difference that will last for generations.
