Trees can live long enough for past, present and
future generations of Virgin Islanders to enjoy their
benefits.

Many trees in the Virgin Islands that provide beauty,
shade and clean air were planted by our enslaved
forefathers and foremothers.

To recognize their environmental and historical
importance, the 32nd V.I. Legislature passed the
Community and Heritage Tree Law to protect and
preserve trees, yet the law is not being administered
as no members have been appointed to the Tree
Board. Meanwhile, trees are being decimated on a
regular basis.

To eliminate our trees without following the law results
in injury to our natural habitat shared by human and
non-human life.

We have an obligation to past and future generations
to protect and preserve trees who are as much a part
of the Virgin Islands as we are.
