The trees next to the mosque have been  there for years . They are healthy and provide some beautiful greenery for local residents.  Each and every year we see families and children collecting conkers from these trees  they  area beautiful sight to sneinton Dale but the mosque wants s to cut them down completely that shouldn't be aloud to happen.  Please help us SAVE THE TREES!!!

Trees at Sneinton Dale

The trees next to the mosque on Sneinton Dale have stood for many years and are an important part of our local environment. They are healthy, mature trees that provide much‑needed greenery in a densely built-up, inner-city area.

These trees are not only environmentally valuable, but they are also deeply valued by the local community. Each year, families and children collect conkers from them, creating traditions and positive outdoor experiences. They are a defining and cherished feature of Sneinton Dale.

Importantly, these trees are protected by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs). This legal protection recognises their significant public amenity value and makes it an offence to cut down, uproot, damage, or destroy them without proper permission from the local authority.

Despite this protection, there are proposals to remove these trees entirely. We strongly oppose this. The removal of TPO-protected trees should only ever occur in exceptional circumstances, supported by clear and justified evidence.

There is no justification for removing healthy, established trees that:

• Contribute to air quality in an urban area
• Support wildlife and biodiversity
• Provide shade and reduce urban heat
• Enhance the wellbeing of residents
• Hold cultural and community significance

Once mature trees are lost, they cannot simply be replaced. It takes decades for new trees to reach the same environmental and social value.

We therefore call on the council to:

• Uphold and strictly enforce the existing Tree Preservation Orders
• Refuse any application that would result in the unnecessary removal of these trees
• Ensure full transparency with the community regarding any proposed works
• Prioritise the long-term protection and maintenance of these important trees

These trees are part of our shared heritage and community identity. Their loss would be irreversible and damaging to Sneinton Dale.

We urge you to protect them.
