I wanted to thank everyone for your support in signing our petition!!!!  We are so grateful!!!

On July 27th the Robertson Blvd Ficus trees will be fighting for their lives in court.  We pray the tress will be saved!  We have asked the Court to grant our Preliminary Injunction which would stop the City of Beverly Hills from killing the remaining trees on Robertson Blvd until our case hearing.

As you can see from the photo above, the left side of Robertson Blvd is home to healthy Ficus trees.  And on the right side you can barely see the Crape Myrtle trees that have been planted to replace the mature Ficus trees.  All of the experts agree, the Crape Myrtle trees will never equal the same size or provide the same benefits as the Ficus trees.  Arborists call Ficus trees the "workhorse" of their arsenal because they are incredibly resilient and provide the largest benefit to residents and cities...shade canopy, carbon capture, reducing the heat island effect, reducing floods, etc.  Not to mention, these gorgeous trees are home to millions of insects, birds, bees, squirrels and tons of wildlife.

More importantly, the City of Beverly Hills was advised by Dudek, the City's Urban Forest Management Consultant, not to remove the Ficus trees on Robertson Blvd as the trees are the only source of shade canopy in the area and the shade canopy percentage is already significantly lower than the rest of Beverly Hills.  Killing these healthy, life-saving trees will cause severe disruption and devastation to the ecosystem, natural habitat and wildlife in the area.

The City of Beverly Hills failed to provide notice to residents and business owners, failed to complete an environmental impact study as required by CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) and failed to research and review any alternatives.

Beverly Hills City Council did nothing to stop this tragedy and is still planning on killing an additional 1200+ trees this year.  This has to stop!  We are in the midst of one of the worst climate disasters with record temperatures across the globe.  Experts continue to advise tree preservation as one of the most successful ways to combat the record setting heat.  We need to PROTECT AND PRESERVE OUR TREES and all our natural resources.

Please join me in writing to the members of the Beverly Hills City Council and asking them for their support.  Please ask Council to stop killing trees and settle this case.  Especially, Mayor Gold who has the power to stop this horrific tragedy now.
