Petition from Derby People's Assembly

Alstom, the current owners of Derby's train building industry intends to close its operations - our City's historic industry -  and sack 1300 workers in Derby. Many more workers are to lose their jobs in the businesses that currently supply Alstom

Derby is a railway town through and through. But the history and welfare of the people of Derby mean nothing to this Big Business.

Just a few months ago Derby was selected by the Secretary of State for Transport as the HQ of "Great British Railways" https://gbrtt.co.uk/what-we-do/hq

Now our town is to be stripped of railway engineering, and the jobs will be scrapped forever - for this and future generations.

In 2011 Derby faced the same challenge when Bombardier owned the industry. The whole town refused to accept it. 10000 Derby people campaigned and marched against it - and we won. We can do so again!

Please sign the petition to demand Government intervention to stop the scrapping of jobs and the end of this great industry.
