Why this petition matters

We are a concerned group of Alumni for the Toronto Beaches Jr A, at risk of losing the organization we have all played for, grown up with, and cheered on as our careers have come and gone.

The Beaches have been a staple in the junior lacrosse community since the 1970s (Jr B, 90s elevated to Jr A), and we are looking to bring awareness to what’s at stake not only for the athletes who are currently playing, but the kids who will ultimately be affected by these changes.

Timeline of Events

  • December 6th - Email from OJLL Commissioner/ Councillor Mark Grimes suspending club and representatives for “intentions to defect to a competitor"

  • December 7th - Appeal sent to league on behalf of Toronto Beaches.

-Commissioner acted alone

-Without authority

-Without warning or opportunity to discuss

  • Tuesday, January 4th - Beaches Appeal is heard by Governors.

Beaches states they never had any plan to leave, and are committed to OJLL. Beaches clearly state NO team representative besides Jason Shuttleworth has any tie to TLL.

  • January 5th - Jason Shuttleworth steps down as director and officer of Toronto Beaches JR A GP inc

  • January 7 - Voting commences. League votes in favour of having Beaches reinstated (7 - 3) Governor votes

  • January 7 - Mimico says voting was out of order and ignores vote

  • January 11 - Beaches have still not heard official results from the vote or determination on league standing

We are asking for community support of the organization, as this community driven team is a place our kids aspire to play one day!
