Today, March 12th, I was informed that next school year the Theater department  at Widefield highschool will be gone. I was told it was because of not enough kids signing up for Theater.  This message is coming from the president of the Thespian Council. It is for everyone at Widefield High School who has done theater here. We would like the school to rethink removing the theater department at Widefield High School. The department has done so much for me, among many others. It has brought me friends I now consider family, experiences I thought I would never have, and someone I look up to immensely. My teacher who has brought me enough information to have a career I would deeply love and cherish and has gotten me through some of my toughest moments. She has become a third parent in my eyes. Without theater classes at Widefield, from beginning and advanced drama to Theater productions and technical theater, we lose the ability to make sets, make designs, pick costumes, paint, and so much more promptly. After school is not enough time to put on a show. We will not have the ability to do what we need to do to make a good show, and that is a key detail to drawing more people to join our program. So please, on behalf of the theater department at Widefield, sign this petition. Theater has brought me so much, and I do not want to go my senior year without doing something I love, and I know others don't, either.
