The Terrace Bay pulp mill, owned by AV Terrace Bay (part of the Aditya Birla Group), has been idled since January 2024. Despite its closure, the facility remains a cornerstone of the community’s economy and identity.

Local leaders, union representatives, and residents are urgently calling on the company to heat and maintain the mill during the harsh Northwestern Ontario winter. Without heating, the mill faces burst pipes, structural damage, and rapid depreciation, threatening its long-term viability and making it nearly impossible to restart operations or attract new buyers.
