Save the Surrey Center Pharmacy Postal Substation

The Issue

The Surrey Center Pharmacy Postal Substation has been serving the Augusta area for almost 45 years.  We recently received a letter from the Postal Service stating that as of September 30, 2025 they would be closing our substation.  We have yet to receive a valid reason for the closing.  We, shared this information with the community and the response has been overwhelming.  Our Senators and Congressman have been working diligently to get answers and overturn this decision.  The support from our community has been overwhelming.  We ask that you please sign our petition to keep the Postal Substation at Surrey Center Pharmacy open!!

“[A Note from the Civic Engagement Team: Change.org provides a tool that allows petition starters and supporters to email decision makers directly from our platform. The following response from Representative Rick Allen was sent in reply to one of these emails in support of the petition.] We have been engaged in the battle to stop the closing of Surrey Center Post Office since they received notice of the intent is USPS to close this CPU. Unfortunately the contract allows USPS to close this CPU at will without consent of Surrey Center or its customers. No matter we have been in discussions with the newly appointed Post Master General Steiner that customer service and convenience is paramount to the success of their operations. We continue to await final determination from Mr. Steiner before the suggested closing date of September 30, 2025. Thank you, Rick”
