Save the Sturtevant House
SAVE THE STURTEVANT HOUSE We, the undersigned, respectfully request the Broome County Land Bank to halt plans to demolish 47 North Street and support our efforts to rehabilitate and repurpose the building. Constructed in the Second Empire style, the Sturtevant House has had a commanding presence on the corner of North and Mather Streets for close to 150 years. It was the residence of James W. Sturtevant, co-founder of the Sturtevant-Larrabee Company, a leading manufacturer of fine sleighs and carriages in the second half of the 19th Century. The Sturtevant House is an important part of our neighborhood’s history. We wish to honor that legacy by transforming 47 North Street into an asset for our neighborhood once again.
