The Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM) is in the process of transferring current museum exhibits to its new future facility. However, after enterprising citizens questioned exactly what would be brought over, MPM social media confirmed that "entire exhibits" -- including The Streets of Old Milwaukee -- would not be present in the new museum. 

While "reimagining" and "refreshing" dusty museum exhibits can be beneficial, this beloved Milwaukee touchstone doesn't need any refurbishment.

MPM, a taxpayer-funded institution, has a responsibility to listen to the very people who have loved and used -- and will love and use -- their exhibits.

Background

Since 1965, The Streets of Old Milwaukee -- and its peripheral exhibits -- have enchanted Milwaukee residents. Children and adults alike remark that the Streets are their favorite -- or second favorite -- exhibit in the entire facility.

The memorable Streets -- clad in cobblestone and immersive, historical touches such as bubbling fountains, candy stores, and black-and-white cinemas -- are an entire experience on their own.
