Save the Sri Lankan native monkeys

Save the Sri Lankan native monkeys
The Issue
Sri Lanka is planning to selling 100,000 plus monkeys to China, at China's rather unusual request. These monkeys are toque macaque monkeys that are native to Sri Lanka and is on the endangered species list. Although it is claimed that these monkeys are for the zoos in China, there is great concern and worry that they will be either killed for meat or used in test labs or both.
This should be stopped for the following reasons:
-Wild animals belong in their natural habitats and key to biodiversity
-There should be strict guidelines around animals held in captivity in zoos etc. and based on press sources, the conditions in China's zoos are not up to acceptable standards, and sometimes terrible (please see below)
-zoonotic diseases is a real risk when animals are displaced from natural habitats; we haven't yet established the origins of Covid which could be a result of animal to human transmission of virus
-animals have their rights and they are part of the ecosystem we inhabit; we have to speak up and take action to protect their rights.
