In or around the year 2000, pre social media days, reportedly, a 'Petition' gathered over 50,000 Votes. through the UK via initially concerned 'Coarse Anglers' noticing the increasing predation issues. A letter with 'Voting Documents' attached was sent out to every 'Fishing Tackle Shop' in the UK. This attempt to get control was ignored.
In 2018 via Social Media 'Flyfishing Large Reservoirs' site on facebook was started by Neil Cohen, in England which is still current and has gathered over 56,000 Votes. In discussion with him about the Petition on 'Flyfishing Large Reservoirs' and learning of the response to his approach to 'Nature England' his response was: 'I failed to get any meaningful response from anyone regarding the 'Petition'
In 2021 via Social Media 'Atlantic Salmon Fishing' site on facebook was started by Ronnie Quigley in Northern Ireland, which is still current and has gathered over 1,300 Votes.
The current 'Petition' here in Wales since mid June 2023 is approaching 2000 Votes to date and that also has failed to get a meaningful response from National Resources Wales or the Welsh Assembly, except a hurried reply from the Welsh National Assembly copying what was readily available on the NRW website, when Fieldsports.Channel tv, contacted National Resources Wales for a response to my Interview, which is reported on and is included at the end of the Update dated 19th August 2023.
It is recognised all over the UK that there exists an unsustainable problem, why is it allowed to continue ?
Are matters moving forward ? well yes they are and I am very pleased to be able to report to you today that, LORD ALEX CARLILE of BERRIEW CBE KC who responded to my initial letter and has also kept himself updated with the 'Petition' throughout. LORD CARLILE has voted today.
Your continued support is respected and your VOTES and SHARING will get the matter recognised, and dealt with in the end, it is up to us to protect our lifestyles and ensure that National Resources Wales, Nature England and Nature Scotland, fulfil their obligations to maintain and enhance our fisheries into the future.
