Petition updateSAVE THE ROOSEVELT ISLAND STEAM POWER PLANT: DEMAND TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITYSTOP the Demolition — Show Us the Evidence
ArchRI Community AllianceNew York, NY, United States

We are calling for an immediate STOP to the Roosevelt Island Steam Plant demolition.

This is being labeled an “emergency” — but there has been:

  • No fire. No collapse. No catastrophic event.
  • No structural report released
  • No environmental data disclosed

Instead, we are seeing something deeply concerning:

  • A building that was allowed to deteriorate,
  • Violations that were not addressed,
  • And now an “emergency” used to justify demolition without transparency or due process.

     Key Questions

  • Where is the structural engineering report?
  • Where are the asbestos, lead, environmental test results and Community Protection Plans?
  • Why was there no feasibility study for adaptive reuse?

If this is truly an emergency:

SHOW THE DATA.

       Bottom Line
This is not just about one building.

It’s about whether public agencies can:

  • Withhold critical information
  • Bypass environmental safeguards
  • And move forward without community consent

Stop the demolition. Release the reports. Let the public be heard.
