Additional Resources and Data Center Education Forum

Good morning everyone - another rainy day!  More time for indoor reading and listening (if you prefer)!

There is an event tomorrow evening hosted by the DeKalb Sustainability Alliance at Kishwaukee College that should provide a brilliant opportunity for additional education  and conversation our favorite subject:

"The DeKalb Sustainabilty Alliance, in partnership with the League of Women Voters, will host a Data Center Education Forum on Thursday, October 1st beginning at 6 p.m. This event will take place at Kishwaukee College Auditorium, 21193 Malta Road, Malta, IL 60150.

Julia Towne, former executive at both Microsoft and Google, will open the forum. Joining her will be a group of panelists from Prairie Rivers Network, Citizens Utility Board, & Illinois Environmental Council. Topics covered will range from land use, water, energy, and environmental justice around data centers.

This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. Interested participants can secure their tickets on Eventbrite.

All local city and county officials, as well as DeKalb County state representatives, state senators, and those running for office are invited to attend.

This event is not associated with Kishwaukee College. All questions & concerns about the forum should be directed to sustaindekalbil@gmail.com Doors open at 5:45 pm."

Additionally, through the Halt the Harm Network, here is a stunning compilation of peer-reviewed articles centering on data centers and the AI industry.  Ranging from issues of governance, ethics, security, water use, and more, this is a brilliant resource for everyone to bookmark and revisit: Scholarly Sources on Data Centers and AI

We hope that you all have plans to stay dry this week, as well as some for getting outside once the sun returns!

Stay informed and engaged.  More importantly?  Stay hopeful!
