Red Door Family Shelter
Mar 9, 2015
We have wonderful news to share with you! We have reached an agreement that will secure the future of our shelter at 875 Queen St. E., Toronto. Last year the Red Door's family shelter site was left without a concrete future after the property was placed into receivership. Today I am pleased to announce that Harhay Construction has purchased the property at 875 Queen St. E. and is working with the City of Toronto and the Red Door to incorporate the shelter into its development plans. You can read about the development in today's Toronto Star article: http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2015/03/09/red-door-family-shelter-to-be-part-of-leslieville-condo-development.html This is a major victory for us, but it is not over yet. We will need your support for the future of our shelter. We will need to raise $3 million to outfit the new building so that we can continue to meet the needs of the homeless families we support. But tonight is for celebrating! Join us on at our community open house tonight, March 9th, from 6:30 - 8:30PM at the Ralph Thornton Centre (765 Queen St E) to celebrate our victory and learn more about this exciting development: Get your questions answered, learn about upcoming project milestones and what you can do to help. Thank you for your support! Berrnnitta Hawkins Executive Director P.S.
