I am deeply concerned about the potential loss of our cherished theater program due to the risk of Mrs. Barto losing her job. The Craven County school board wants to get rid of Mrs. Barto’s job, a history teacher at Havelock High School who directs the school’s new Ramlight Theater program for kids who are passionate about the performing arts. They chose her position because she was the last hired at the school in specifically the history department. Our RAMLIGHT THEATER has raised over $1,000 dollars alone from our shows. This theater program is not just an extracurricular activity; it's something I along with other students helped start from the ground up. It serves as a vital outlet for me, my friends, and countless students who have found a community and passion in theater.

Theater is more than just performances; it's about building confidence, fostering creativity, and offering students a platform to express themselves in ways that traditional academic settings often cannot. Under Mrs. Barto's guidance, our program has flourished, providing invaluable opportunities for young people to explore their talents and learn essential life skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership.
