This message is about a critically important survey for those willing to put in committed work to get preservation to the next level. If you wish, you may simply scroll down to the survey link at the bottom of this message.

It's been two months since the Powhatan School Board voted to open a dialogue with the Board of Supervisors to explore whether the compromised buildings at Pocahontas might be saved. There has been no major news on this subject between then and now. It's time to make some news.

While we greatly appreciate all of the enthusiasm and care that led people to sign this petition, promote this petition and support this petition, signatures alone will not save Pocahontas from demolition, and all of the talking in the world will not save Pocahontas.

We need commitment. We need money. We need ideas, organization and workable plans. It's time to make the goals for Pocahontas the realities we most want to see.

There's been talk about grant money. There's been concern about what the county can or will afford and whether the quest to save these buildings might be cost prohibitive. In our previous survey, most respondents said the cost was irrelevant and they simply wanted to find a way forward no matter the cost. Now is the time for those who made such statements--- actually, for those who are truly committed to such statements--- to put effort behind those words.

Please take the survey linked here, but ONLY if you are among those who is willing to roll up proverbial sleeves and put in effort to get Pocahontas restored, repurposed and resourced anew for the next generations of Powhatan residents, of alumni legacy, of history lovers, and new learners, poised to discover what this school really meant and means.
