Save the plane trees at the Martlets shopping centre, Burgess Hill!

The Issue

When New River first applied for planning permission it was going to put a building here in this square,

DM/25/1327

so it needed the trees to go. It was granted that permission in 2019 (DM/19/3331). However, since then it has applied for various amendments, and now there will be no building on this square: it will be a public square with 17 parking spaces. So there is no longer any reason to fell these mature trees. The Joint Venture now running the demolition & redevelopment (MSDC + NRR) must surely retain these trees to mitigate the 'urban heat island' effect and give people somewhere to sit in shade in the summer. (The pale blue block used to be New Look).  These trees are two of only eight mature trees in Burgess Hill town centre.

Please sign to ask MSDC for these trees to be allowed to stay.
