Save the Pine Ridge Golf Course Property in Citrus County Florida from being built on.

The Issue

The Pine Ridge Golf Course in Citrus County Florida has been purchased by a Property Developer. They have filed a proposal to change the Golf Course from a State Platted Park/Recreation to a Housing Development. Currently there are about 195 houses on this golf course and 4,920 residential lots in Pine Ridge, approximately 1100 lots are available to build on. This community will be devastated if the County Commissioners approve this proposal. Golf course lots in this community were selling for $40k to $50k per acre. This developer bought the property as a golf course made up of approximately 221 acres for $850k, That's less than $4k per acre. Now they want to change the Land Use and build housing. This will cost  the current home owners in lost property value. Possibly $8.6 million for just the homes on the golf course. This golf course is in the middle of Pine Ridge and surrounded by approximately 4,920 residential homes and lots. This most likely may cause the new home construction in Pine Ridge to slow and the values to existing homes and lots to lose value. The Current Golf Course property has no infrastructure for housing. That means tremendous loss of natural habitat in the middle of our community as this developer is currently clear cutting natural resources all around us. Now they will be clear cutting our golf course and bulldozing it flat to make way for Power Poles to be installed, power lines to be hung, water lines to be dredged and buried, roads to be built, all this equipment will have to be hauled into our community on our roads and roadsides, effecting traffic and common grounds, then homes to be constructed, etc... all while disturbing the peace and quiet that we moved here for. Ruining our property values, our privacy, our way of life, and the presence of construction workers in and around our home and families for years as this destruction takes place. Pine Ridge will soon be no different than every major city that we all moved here to escape from. There is plenty of undeveloped property in Citrus County. This is outrageous to think that turning our golf course that people have built homes and a community around is ok. In years to come, when Citrus County is built up, this community would be a relative gem to the county. Without this beautiful natural Park/Recreational Property, much of the allure to this community will be lost. This must not be allowed to happen. Please help save our community, our way of life and our peaceful natural habitat. Also note that Pine Ridge is considered a Bird Sanctuary in part because of the Natural habitat of our golf course. If this is not stopped it will have a devastating impact on our community and it's wildlife. Currently this developer is making applications to change Land Use and start the development of this property. Please act now and sign this petition and make others aware of the need to sign and get involved as well. Please make our County Commissioners know that we are vehemently against this and there re-election depends on them stopping this. Don't wait until it is too late, please act now. Thank You.
