Save the Pilot Whales Now!

Save the Pilot Whales Now!
The Issue
The North Atlantic Ocean is home of over 380,000 Pilot Whales and Dolphins. These highly intelligent animals have their own language of clicks and squeaks, but sadly they are brutally hunted every year at the hands and weapons of the hunters of the Faroe Islands, in what is known as the Grindadrap or Grind.
In 2021 around 1,428 Pilot Whales and Dolphins were killed in one hunt! That is a lot more than an average hunt of around 42 pilot whales and dolphins. In spite of the number being higher than any other year, but the annual ritual remains a steady for the hunters of the Faroe Islands, numbers speak for themselves:
Hunters at the Faroe Islands claim that they cannot stop this ritual, because these whales were a stable food source before the industrial revolution in the Faroe Islands, and its part of their tradition. As quoted by Rob Read, Chief Operating Officer at Sea Shepherd UK: “For such a hunt to take place in 2021 in a very wealthy European island community, just 230 miles from the UK, with no need or use for such a vast quantity of contaminated meat is outrageous”. Also, the grind has no hunting quota and therefore no limits, and, the Faroe Islands Health Authority advises against eating whale and dolphin meat because of its high concentrations of mercury, dioxins and PCBs. If something harms the human body that much, why hunt it in mass quantities and without a quota?
Now that you know about this pure bloodlust, I hope you will fill out the petition above, to ask Minister Mary Ng, Canada’s Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, Queen Margrethe II, Queen of Denmark and Prime Minister Aksel V. Johannesen, Prime Minister of Faroe Islands. Every one of us has the power to change this, let's use it.
