The Issue

I am a Filipino who deeply loves our country's natural beauty and the resources that sustain our communities. When I learned about the proposed Pax Sillica data center project in the Philippines, I felt concerned—not only for myself, but for future generations who will inherit the consequences of the decisions we make today.

Data centers require enormous amounts of electricity, land, and water to operate. While technology is important, progress should never come at the expense of the people and the environment. I worry that local communities may bear the environmental costs while receiving little say in how these projects are planned and managed.

Our forests, rivers, groundwater, and other natural resources are part of our shared heritage. Once they are depleted or damaged, it is often impossible to fully restore them. I believe every Filipino deserves transparency, meaningful public consultation, and assurance that our environment will be protected before projects of this scale move forward.

This is not about rejecting innovation. It is about demanding responsible development that respects our rights, our communities, and our natural resources. We should not be forced to accept environmental risks without clear safeguards, accountability, and the opportunity to participate in decisions that affect our lives.

I am adding my voice to this petition because I want a future where technological progress and environmental protection go hand in hand. I hope our leaders will listen to the concerns of ordinary Filipinos and ensure that any development is truly sustainable, transparent, and in the best interest of the people—not just today, but for generations to come.
