The Issue

I am Dishi, founder of The Pawsome Foundation in Jaipur, and a proud parent to a rescued dog who changed my life forever. Today, I write with deep concern for the millions of street dogs across India who may soon lose their only home — our streets.

Recently, the Supreme Court of India has reportedly passed an order to remove all stray dogs from the country within eight weeks. While the intention may be to address public safety concerns, such a blanket action is not only inhumane but also ignores the proven, scientific methods of controlling street dog populations — such as Animal Birth Control (ABC) programs, vaccination drives, and community feeding initiatives.

Street dogs are part of our neighborhoods, our mornings, our childhood memories. They guard our streets at night, wag their tails when we pass, and survive on the kindness of strangers. Removing them forcefully will not only cause them immense suffering but will also create ecological imbalance.

As an animal lover, and as part of The Pawsome Foundation, I believe that compassion must lead our decisions. Instead of removing our strays, we should work towards vaccination, sterilization, and public awareness to create safe, humane coexistence between humans and animals.

We urge the Supreme Court to reconsider and withdraw this order and instead implement and strengthen humane street dog management programs across the country.

Please sign and share this petition to let the voices of millions of voiceless animals be heard. Together, we can make India truly pawsome — for every living being.

Every signature counts. Every paw matters.
