PLEASE HELP! We need animal crossing signs or the speed limit reduced!
We have lived in Okanagan Falls on Hwy. 97 S for over 21 years. We ran a business, Harleywood, for 16 years here & have seen many accidents & alot of animals killed right in front of our place. 
Back in the 50's & 60's it belonged to Carl McNaughton. Carl was an animal lover & conservationist. He had many animals here, including big horn sheep, rattlesnakes, a pet black bear & hawk, plus so much more. 
There is a passing lane right in front of our property at a speed limit of 80, but most are going at least a 100. The problem is it's exactly where the deer, bears & other animals cross the highway. So many accidents that have been caused here, killing several animals. Not all die instantly which is devastating & horrific. I have nightmares from all the deaths.
I tried to reason with the head of Ministry of Transportation when they were going to put in the passing lane. I was basically told they didn't care & if they wanted to they could completely cut off our driveway. Really?
I asked if they might consider putting up deer crossing signs. I was told to purchase the signs myself. I suggested keeping the speed limit at 60 until just after the crest of that hill & then raise it to the 80. Flat out, NO!
Death after death & I'm at my wit's end.
