In these petition updates I will share excerpts from my journal writings while we were on Country for 9 weeks filming and photographing the beautiful Nullarbor karst.
"How stupendous to experience this place, to be on country for this long. Time to slow down and just BE. Be in this beautiful exquisite environment and notice. Time to take off my boots, gumboots for the dust, walking boots for the loose rocks. Time to take off my boots and walk barefoot on this ground. Sacred earth. Cryptogam crust so exquisite. When I really get close up and notice you, its feels sacrilegious to walk on you. Especially after rain. You are soft and tender. Tightly interwoven. Thin piece covering, only millimetres thick. Woven like patterned carapaces that protect animals. You are connected pieces of crust protecting the soil. Like colourful patterned tiles, marked with lichens; white, pink, yellow. And moss, almost invisible when it’s dry. Verdant green, you come alive with dew or rain."
With gratitude for the Nullarbor and you all,
Bronwen Eberhard
