The Issue

As a parent, I know there’s nothing more fierce than a mother protecting her child. That’s exactly what this bear was doing — defending her cub, found up in a tree during the incident. Calling this an “attack” is missing the point. This was natural, protective behavior. Instead of respecting that instinct, the authorities want to euthanize her first and figure things out later. That’s cold, careless, and unjust. Killing a mother bear for being a mother is not the answer.

I’m starting this petition because we need to stop treating wildlife like villains and start treating them like neighbors in their own homes. We should be focused on education, safety measures, and humane alternatives — not quick executions.

This bear deserves to live. I’m standing up for her, and I hope you will too. Because if we don’t protect the protectors, what does that say about us?
