The Issue

As a proud graduate and current volunteer for the Modesto Downtown Streets Team (DST), I’ve seen firsthand the profound impact this program has on our community. For the past five years, I've worked alongside dedicated individuals to beautify our beloved Modesto, CA. Thanks to this team, I was housed within a year of joining, an opportunity that changed my life. The DST is not just a program; it's a family, a support system, and essential to revitalizing our downtown area.

The DST empowers its members, many of whom are experiencing homelessness or unemployment, by providing them with jobs, skills, and hope. According to reports, communities with active street teams like ours see reductions in litter, increased community pride, and even boosted local economies. It’s a remarkable success story playing out daily on the streets of Modesto.

However, this indispensable program is under threat due to funding challenges. Losing it would mean more than just dirtier streets—it would mean the loss of opportunity for transformation and support for those who need it most.

We must act now to secure the future of the Modesto Downtown Streets Team. By signing this petition, you're not only supporting our clean streets; you're advocating for a program that uplifts our community and transforms lives. Please join us in urging local authorities and community leaders to continue funding this critical program. Sign the petition to save Modesto DST today. Thank you.
