Thank you to the cities of San Mateo and Millbrae for their recent passage of resolutions urging Sutter Health to reopen the Mickelson therapy pool for community use. These actions—in addition to the resolutions passed by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and the Sequoia Healthcare District—demonstrate steadfast support for returning this important medical resource to the Peninsula.

Warm Water Wellness activity

We are delighted to report that Warm Water Wellness Inc has received its determination letter from the IRS and is now officially a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

We recently became aware that Sutter Health has quietly closed more than 22 community programs over the past 15 years. Our Board of Directors is working closely with over a dozen local politicians and several pro bono attorneys to raise public awareness about these closures and the impact their absence will have on the quality of life for the most vulnerable members of our community. One of the aspects we are bringing to the attention of elected officials is whether Sutter is meeting its obligations as a tax-exempt non-profit organization.

We continue to work to increase the availability of therapy pools in San Mateo County. The city of South San Francisco has invited members of our Warm Water Wellness Board to be subject matter experts on a warm water therapy pool in their new Aquatics Center at Orange Memorial Park. This facility is planned to open in 2024.
