Save The Luau Pointe Banyan Tree at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

The Issue

The goal of this petition is to urge Walt Disney World to save the large banyan tree that is located at Luau Pointe at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
In a perfect scenario the tree and Luau Pointe would be allowed to remain in its current location but at a minimum the tree should be relocated. These trees can live over 200 years and it should be able to be around for another 150 or more years. This tree and it’s surrounding area are part of what makes the atmosphere of the Polynesian and should remain for future guests.

Disney Vacation Club recently announced a new addition to the Polynesian that includes a new tower at the site of the Spirit of Aloha Dinner show.  Beside that fact that this will be a huge loss for the resort overall, it will certainly mean that the trees and landscaping will be removed from Luau Pointe.

The banyan tree at Luau Pointe is a part of many resort guests memories over the years. From being a backdrop for countless weddings to all of the guests who have gotten family photos in the area while waiting for the luau. This tree has hugh sentimental value to thousands of guests and it would be a great loss to the resort if destroyed.

Disney Parks has a long history of relocating trees from the beginning with Disneyland park, Disney has moved thousands of trees over the years including the Liberty Tree and Winnie the Pooh tree in Magic Kingdom park to the many trees transplanted all over the resort.

While Disney has transplanted many trees not all are saved, a large banyan tree was recently destroyed near the back of the Great Ceremonial House at the Polynesian.

The goal of this petition is to let Disney know that many guests value this tree and would like to see Disney save it and relocate it somewhere else at the Polynesian.

Please add you name to the petition and share your family memories with the tree and Luau Pointe.
