Save the Lilydale Youth Hub!

The Issue

The Lilydale Youth Hub provides a safe space and essential mental health services for young people, aged 12-25, throughout the Yarra Ranges. This service has positively influenced the lives of hundreds of young people, their friends, and their families, helping to improve mental health and well-being, and connecting young people to services that care. The Hub was established through government funding from 2019-2022. At the end of this year, without further funding, the Hub will be forced to close down. Support services and safe spaces like the hub should not be temporary. We need long-term and stable support for youth mental health in the Yarra Ranges. Raise your voice and stand in solidarity with the Lilydale Youth Hub. Let's show the government how valued this service is, and what a tragedy it would be to lose it.

In support of the Hub, there will also be a rally to demonstrate just how important this Hub is to young people in the area. If you can attend, this will add to our influence. The details are below.

WHEN: Saturday the 10th of December, 2pm.
WHO: everyone is welcome. Let's make an impact!
WHAT: youth-led speeches, chants, and march (TBC map & schedule).
WHERE: outside the Lilydale Youth Hub, 5/9 Clarke Street, Lilydale.
WHY: to advocate for youth mental health support in the Yarra Ranges, and stand against the closure of the Lilydale Youth Hub.

More information can be found through our Facebook Event:

This is a youth-led rally, organized by and for young people. We encourage people of all ages to come along and support.
Deaf and hard-of-hearing people are welcome to stand at the front to ensure accessible viewing, and people with sensory needs are encouraged to bring headphones and stand at the back to minimize sensory overload.

FURTHER SUPPORT:

Unable to attend or just want to do more to help?
- The Lilydale Youth Hub is collecting messages from the community on the importance of the Hub and its services. Whether you have been personally impacted by the hub or not, your voice is valuable. Speak up about youth mental health support in the Yarra Ranges. The Hub will collect everyone's stories and messages of support and send them on to Government MPs, government departments, and the media. To contribute, follow the link:
