As someone who has dedicated many years as a volunteer, I have been deeply disturbed, along with volunteers, community members, and dog lovers, by the evaluation that threatens to end the life of this great dog. 

The dog in question, whose had no name upon arrival. We have called Duke, who has been much loved by everyone at our rescue center.

 His playful spirit and gentle demeanor have made him a favorite among volunteers over the weeks he has constantly improved from arriving.

Unfortunately, Duke is now facing a death sentence that we are asking to be postponed, for further evaluation to reflect his true character and behavior.

The community that knows and loves Duke stands firm that he is not a threat and deserves a second chance.

 We must urge the authorities to reconsider Duke's case with a fair and just review, involving qualified animal behaviorists, and offering opportunities for corrective behavioral planning if truly needed.

Implementing these measures not only offers Duke a chance at life but also sets a precedent for fair treatment of animals in similar situations.
