Save the L'Arte Central Social Enterprise Cafe, Catering & Florist in Cranbourne

Save the L'Arte Central Social Enterprise Cafe, Catering & Florist in Cranbourne
The issue
Our beloved local not-for-profit Social Enterprise Cafe, Catering and Florist in Cranbourne is under threat. This isn't just about a business; it's about the livelihoods of 45 hardworking locals who face redundancy if we don't act now.
The proposed, unfunded, and somewhat controversial Cranbourne Community Hub will not be built till 2028/2029 yet the City of Casey has decided to 'decommission' the building we are in as well as 'transitioning us out' by the end of June 2024, YES , THIS YEAR. This is despite them choosing to keep tenants including the Library and Lendlease, who are constructing the hospital. Yes, we are devastated, dismayed, and shocked but we won’t be going down without a fight!
This social enterprise has been a cornerstone of our community since commencement in 2019. It's not just a place where we get our coffee, our food, or our flowers; it's where we connect with each other, share stories, and build relationships. The cafe, catering, and florist have provided employment and participation opportunities for many locals.
Moreover, social enterprises like ours contribute significantly to the Australian economy. According to Social Traders Australia, they generate approximately $5.3 billion annually while creating jobs for those often excluded from mainstream employment.
Now imagine all that disappearing overnight - 45 people without jobs, an economic void in our community and one less place that makes Cranbourne unique.
By signing this petition, you are advocating for the survival of this social enterprise and supporting those who rely on it for their livelihoods. Let's stand together to save L'Arte Central in Cranbourne! Please sign this petition today!
