Save the Kinnickinnic River by Removing the Dam

Save the Kinnickinnic River by Removing the Dam

The Issue

The Kinnickinnic River, who runs from Milwaukee to River Falls, is in danger, and all of the fish whom reside there, too. Due to the two dams owned by the River Falls Municiple Utility, the fish population is plummeting, mainly to the brown trout. 600 of the trout were found dead in just 13 days! It could be mere months when the species no longer reigns in the pride of Wisconsin.

Once my dad and my siblings and I were fishing by the dam. We hadn't caught much and were almost ready to get home when I caught a fish. It was a brown trout fish. My father would always do capture and release with them, but this time he didn't even need to remind me. It looked nearly dead, with small shaky breaths and little scales covering the tiny body. I doubt that fish lived a week after we caught it. This was unjust. Unfair. Someone needs to stop this.

By signing this petition, these fish will be given back 10 times as much freedom we have. A home, food, and fresh water. When you sign, you will not regret it. Every time the dam is recognized a beautiful, powerful, breath taking sight, do not sit in silence. Say something, and protect the trout that cherish every remaining breath and any tiny shred of food. Because when you are big and powerful humans, the little guys need you.
