The Jemison Center, located in Northport, Alabama, is a popular visitor destination spot, as it is the physical “home” of the Slenderman myth, via its prominent featuring in the first adaptation of the Slenderman character in a video format, Marble Hornets. The Jemison Center is also a notable historical site for the dark age of psychiatric care in Alabama. The mental clinic was maintained to “help” those with mental disorders, but ended up being incredibly negative for their own safety and wellbeing. For both of these reasons, it is far too important, to so many people to be destroyed now. It’s destruction would sadden the heart of many who see this place as the start of a new era, and the remains of an old one. Hence, we pledge against the demolition of the Jemison Center, in favor of preservation, in any form it may be.
