Save the Isle of Hope Volunteer Fire Department

The Issue

We, the undersigned residents and concerned citizens of Isle of Hope and Dutch Island, respectfully
petition the Chatham County Commissioners to preserve and protect the Isle of Hope Volunteer Fire
Department by committing to the following:
1. Fair Funding – Allocate funding through negotiations with the Fire Department in a fair manner,
ensuring that new tax revenue is returned to our community.
2. Respect Autonomy – Honor the independence and current organizational structure of the Isle of
Hope Volunteer Fire Department.
3. Support Volunteers – Respect and preserve our dedicated, trained volunteers who serve our
community.
4. Protect Assets – Refrain from any effort to force the Isle of Hope Volunteer Fire Department into a
hostile takeover of its jurisdiction, property, equipment, apparatus, or financial instruments.
5. Collaborative Partnership – Work as true partners with the Isle of Hope Volunteer Fire Department
to continue its longstanding tradition of protecting life and property on Isle of Hope and Dutch Island.
