The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is the number one federal funding agency in the United States for museums and libraries. On March 14, 2025 President Trump signed Executive Order "Continuing the Reduction of the Federal Bureaucracy" that aims to gut several federal agencies, including IMLS.

If this executive order is not blocked or turned over, the biggest funding source for museums and libraries will cease to exist. This will have devastating affects on your local museums and libraries. Yes, IMLS is a federal agency, but it funds museums and libraries of all jurisdictions. Everywhere from federal libraries to your local town museum.

The Executive Order is to take full effect March 21, 2025. We need action NOW.
