Clemson House Barber Shop Update

It is with deep regret that we inform you that the student proposal to keep the Clemson House Barber Shop has been denied by Clemson University's Division of Student Affairs. On Tuesday, January 24, four student representatives met with three Administrators from Student Affairs to officially present the case for the Barber Shop to remain on campus on behalf of Clemson's student body. Simply put, this request was denied because of a lack of space available on campus to place the Barber Shop. However, the idea of a new Student Union at Clemson was mentioned during this discussion as a possibility in the upcoming years at Clemson, and there is a possibility that space may be made available for a barber shop to be placed. Other than this potential, after this May there will be no on-campus barber shops (aside from the private shop in the new Football Operations Center). With this recent news, our focus has now shifted to finding a permanent home for the Barber Shop at a reasonable off-campus location. Finally, plans are still being put together to honor the Clemson House once it is torn down. We are still hoping to establish a Clemson House Memorial, in which we hope to include memorabilia, photographs, articles and other items from the Clemson House.
