The HUUSD K-6 student body across six schools (Crossett Brook Middle School, Brookside Primary School, Warren Elementary School, Waitsfield Elementary School, Moretown Elementary School, and Fayston Elementary School) is going to be negatively impacted by the loss of the K-6 elementary world language program. What are the negative impacts?

• Students will lose out on early exposure to other cultures and places around the world.
• At Crossett Brook Middle School, students will miss out on the opportunity to explore French and Spanish in 5th and 6th grade; thus making it more difficult for them to choose which language they want to pursue in 7th grade.
• Starting a world language in 7th grade is too late; all of the research points to the early years as being the best time to be exposed to another language. 
• There will be a lost opportunity for important integration at the elementary level between French, music, art, and social studies.
