The Holly Shopping Center is the last Black-owned commercial block in all of Park Hill, representing generations of Black entrepreneurship, community pride, cultural heritage, and economic opportunity.
For decades, the Holly has been more than just a shopping center. It has been a gathering place where families built memories, neighbors connected, businesses flourished, and generations of residents found a sense of belonging.
The Holly holds significant importance to the history, culture, businesses, families, and community life of Northeast Park Hill and the greater Denver community.
As our neighborhoods continue to change, preserving the Holly is essential to ensuring that the history, contributions, and legacy of Black business owners and the community are not erased or forgotten.
Our Petition
We, the undersigned, support the historic landmark designation and preservation of the Holly Shopping Center in Northeast Park Hill, Denver, Colorado.
We believe that the last Black-owned commercial block in Park Hill deserves formal historic recognition and protection for future generations.
We support preserving the Holly's historic character, cultural significance, and community legacy while encouraging thoughtful investment, rehabilitation, and continued community-serving businesses.
