The historic Ruhland’s garage, located in the center of East Setauket, is at risk of being demolished. Many people do not know that our politicians and the Town of Brookhaven want to demolish this historic building for a park. There is plenty of room behind the building to accommodate a park. If we save this historic garage, restore it through grants and/or private donations, it would provide opportunities to generate revenue and add value to the surrounding historic area. If the building is destroyed, we would also lose the opportunity of any National Registry designation. Most importantly, we would lose a piece of our history that could never be replaced. 
Ruhland’s Garage has been a working garage in this community since the 1920s. It belongs to us- the community of East Setauket- and the people of the Town of Brookhaven. It’s a turn of the century automobile garage which serviced automobiles as far back as the Model A and T Fords. This piece of automotive history is one that all generations can enjoy. I’m asking for some help, as it would be a big undertaking alone. Please help me save Ruhland's Garage, it really will take OUR VILLAGE!
