Save the Historic Palmiste Chimney – Protect Our Over 200-Year-Old Heritage

The Issue

The Palmiste area is home to a remarkable piece of our history, an over 200-year-old brick chimney that stands as a powerful sentinel of our social memory and a testament to the era in which it was built. Its majestic presence echoes the stories of the past, reflecting the lives and resilience of those who came before us.

Today, however, this vital relic faces the risk of neglect and possible loss. Our historical landmarks are pillars of our identity and culture. If we allow them to fade away, the stories and legacies they carry will fade with them.

The Palmiste Historical Society (PHS), in partnership with the Palmiste Residents Association, has launched a renewed effort to preserve this historic chimney located near Blocks 5 and 7, Palmiste. With dedication and determination, members of the PHS Board of Directors and the Palmiste Residents Association have already begun cleaning and restoring the area surrounding the chimney.

But preserving this historical treasure requires the collective support of our National community.

We are calling on everyone in Palmiste and beyond to join us in this mission. Become part of this preservation effort by volunteering, spreading awareness, and supporting the campaign. We invite businesses and individuals to volunteer, please send a message to the Palmiste Historical Society at  palmistehistoricalsociety@gmail.com or +1 868-678-0272.

Together, we can ensure that this invaluable piece of our heritage survives for future generations, giving them the opportunity to connect with the history that shaped our community.

Join the Palmiste Historical Society and the Palmiste Residents Association in honouring our past and safeguarding it for the future.

Sign the petition today and help preserve our beloved Palmiste chimney.

Let it continue to stand as a beacon of our shared history
