Hellfire Massy's Residents Association is proud to introduce a ‘Talk About Our Dublin Forests – Biodiversity • Myths • Legends’.

Presentations on nine of South Dublin’s forests (Massy’s Wood, Hellfire, Ticknock, Barnaslignan, Carrigolligan, Kilmashogue, Ballyedmonduff, Cruagh, Tibradden) by Dr Declan Little, Coillte Nature. Éanna Ní Lamhna will talk about the Biodiversity, Myths and Legends associated with trees. The event will be chaired by author Michael Fewer.

The event will be held in the Orlagh Country House www.orlaghestate.ie a hidden gem in South Dublin in the foothills below the Hellfire Club, on the 25th March, 7.30pm - 9.30pm.

Michael Fewer is an architect by profession and he combined a successful architectural practice with an academic post for many years until he changed direction in 2000 to spend more time writing and travelling. Michael has a wide range of interests that he likes to write about, including history, the environment, landscape, travel and walking and he particularly enjoys exploring wilderness areas on foot.

Since his first book was published in 1988, there have been a further twenty three: he has produced more than 400 illustrated magazine and newspaper articles, and is an Irish Times columnist. He has also illustrated books for other authors, written book reviews and was a consultant contributor to the Encyclopaedia of Ireland. He has contributed to a considerable number of television and radio programmes, particularly Sunday Miscellany.

Éanna Ní Lamhna is a biologist, environmental consultant, radio and television presenter, author and educator. She is one of the best-known public figures in Ireland in the area of nature and the environment and was listed as one of Ireland's "Influential 100" in 2012. She was president of the national environmental charity An Taisce. Éanna has co-written, edited or written a number of books.

Dr Declan Little a Project Manager, Dr Declan Little, was employed in August 1998 by the Woodlands of Ireland to co-ordinate activities leading towards the attainment of their objectives. Declan had previously spent more than a decade working in native woodlands, primarily in a research capacity. From 1989 – 1998 he studied native woodland soils, land-use history and ecology in the Forest Ecosystem Research Group, and in the Zoology section of the Department of Biology and Environmental Science, University College Dublin. Declan has recenlty joined Coillte Nature a new not for profit entity within Coillte which has a mandate to target the delivery of new woodlands facilitating species diversity, biodiversity and carbon sequestration as part of the Government’s National Forestry Programme. Coillte Nature's inaugural project is the management and conversion to mixed woodlands of 9 South Dublin forests.
